People currently experiencing hefty loan charges may know all too well that sorting out debt is "tricky". Kim Stephenson, financial psychologist and creator of Taming the Pound, a website which aims to help people to manage their money better and change their attitude and behaviour towards money, claims that couples must be honest with each other when it comes to debt. He said: "Sorting out debt and bills is very tricky if one or more of you are lying about what the debts are. If you don't know where you are and what the debts and bills are, it is difficult to deal with them." Offering some tips on how people can better manage their money, Mr Stephenson suggested they should determine what they want. "It is much better to start off by working out what you actually want - what will really make you happy," he said. According to the 19th annual Tax Report by unbiased.co.uk, cash-strapped Brits are preparing to unnecessarily hand over a massive £13.5 billion to the taxman this year because they do not understand the tax system.
