Credit card charges: More consumers using vouchers

An increasing number of people may be avoiding credit card charges by taking advantage of discount vouchers and coupons.

According to research by CouponCoupon, 80 per cent of consumers in Britain now use coupons and vouchers codes.

Findings also showed that people aged between 25 and 40 are the biggest voucher users, saving an average of £304 each every year.

Commenting on these findings was Mark Pearson, chairman of MyVoucherCodes, a money saving website offering consumers promotional codes, e-vouchers or discount codes on many everyday goods and services.

He said: "Consumers are becoming more aware of the discounts available to them, and as such they are increasing in popularity.

"Retailers are also becoming more savvy to the benefits of providing vouchers because shoppers are much more likely to visit stores which have the best offers, therefore increasing profits for them."

CouponCoupon also revealed that 63 per cent of consumers now compare prices when shopping online.
