Consumers who have experienced credit card charges and have used a debt management firm for advice may be concerned to hear that a report has found their practices to be exploitative.Debt charity Consumer Credit Counselling Service (CCCS) was commenting on a report by the Office of Fair Trading (OFT) that revealed debt management firms may be detrimental to consumers who use them.Delroy Coinaldi, CCCS external affairs director, said: "These firms are taking people for a ride, persuading them to buy products and services they can ill afford."We must continue to be vigilant for, and deal with, these exploitative practices. There is no need for anyone to pay for debt advice when CCCS has capacity and all our services are free."According to the CCCS, there are cases where debt management companies have not repaid any of the money owed to creditors that to debtor has paid them.Charles BakerCharles is a reputed financial analyst with almost decades of experience under his belt.
