UK consumers who are struggling with loan charges may be at further risk if they are on a low income. This is because the Consumer Credit Counselling Service (CCCS) has said it is particularly concerned that those on low incomes are not able to make ends meet.Delroy Corinaldi, CCCS external affairs director, says: "Those on low incomes are particularly financially vulnerable, often finding it hard to make ends meet let alone deal with unexpected demands on their living costs."I worry about the high debt burden that many are carrying and the impact it has on their ability to keep their heads above water."He added that the charity is concerned about the use of credit by people on low incomes, as he said this is an "unhealthy" use of credit.Recent research by the charity shows that the average unsecured debt of its clients who earn a maximum of £13,500 a year is £12,870.Jennifer HainesJennifer's speciality knowledge is credit card changes and balance transfers.
