PPI Claims: Christmas 'is worrying'

PPI claims could help many people save this Christmas.

An increasing amount of people in the UK are worried that they will not be able to afford to enjoy the festive period this year, according to new research from MoneySupermarket.com.

The study found that a third of British consumers were expecting to make cutbacks on saving as increases in the costs of living and stagnating incomes took their toll.

Kevin Mountford, the site's head of banking, said Christmas this year will be tough for most families but there are options available that mean it does not need to be a cause of worry.

"Consumers will … be amazed at how much cash they can free up by simply ensuring they are using the most efficient financial products and not shelling out unnecessarily on interest payments," he added.

Additional research from the site revealed people's shopping habits were already becoming thriftier and half will actively search for a bargain.
