Payment protection claims and credit card refunds could provide people with extra financial support they may need if they have recently become unemployed. The Office for National Statistics has released figures which reveal that 292,000 people in the UK have been made redundant since the start of 2011 and the Consumer Credit Counselling Service (CCCS) believes many of them will soon experience financial difficulties.According to the charity, of the 418,000 people who needed its services last year, almost a quarter cited redundancy and unemployment as one of the major causes of their money concerns."Redundancy is a huge financial blow for those affected. While many will find new jobs, large numbers will not or will have a gap before they do," said Delroy Corinaldi, the CCCS's director of external affairs.Recently, the TUC reported that 97 per cent of the local authorities in the UK had seen a rise in youth unemployment during the last year.Amir HussainAmir specialises in personal loans, consumer debt and debt management.
