One in three UK citizens - some of whom may have outstanding payment protection insurance (PPI) claims - are confident they can meet their savings targets this year. A new study conducted by Skipton Building Society has found that 40 per cent of people have made a New Year's resolution to improve their finances. Around 66 per cent of this number believe they will be able to stick to their plans, while 14 per cent are "very confident" of doing so. Younger workers appear to have the most determination, as 72 per cent claimed they would meet their targets. Despite this, bosses at Skipton believe May 6th will be the date when most people will have given up on their resolutions. A new survey undertaken by first direct has discovered that more than 50 per cent of Britons made financial decisions in 2011 that they later regretted. Indeed, one in three said they wished they had done more to settle some of their arrears throughout the year. Amir HussainAmir specialises in personal loans, consumer debt and debt management.
