PPI claim news: Consumers unhappy with energy firms
More homeowners may be looking to see if they are eligible to file a payment protection insurance (PPI) claim, as many are increasingly disillusioned with the huge amount they have to fork out for energy bills.
A new study conducted by Which? showed that most British consumers are dissatisfied with the services provided by the "big six" power companies.
This, Friends of the Earth's energy campaigner Paul Steedman said, is unsurprising given recent changes to tariffs.
He believes the big six - which includes E. ON, EDF Energy, Scottish Power, British Gas, npower and Scottish and Southern Energy - have too much of a stranglehold on the industry.
"Ministers must take urgent action to protect cash-strapped families and fix our broken electricity system by investing in clean, home-grown power we can all afford," he remarked.
However, there are signs of hope for struggling Britons, as EDF Energy has announced a five per cent drop in its prices today (January 11th), with bosses suggesting that wholesale gas rates have fallen, which has enabled the firm to pass the savings on to customers.
