PPI claim news: Nearly half of Britons worried about fuel bills
Nearly half of British consumers are concerned that they will not be able to afford their next fuel bill, which could lead to more people seeing if they are eligible to file a payment protection insurance (PPI) claim.
According to the Citizen's Advice Bureau, 43 per cent of survey respondents feel they may struggle to pay their next energy bill, as prices have risen sharply in recent months.
One in two also said that the cost of heating their homes would have a big impact on their finances during 2012.
In November 2011, eight-times more people contacted the Bureau with concerns over power rates when compared with the same month in 2010.
"Many people could cut their gas and electricity bills by moving to a better deal with their existing supplier, switching to another supplier altogether, or by taking up home insulation offers," commented energy and climate change secretary Chris Huhne.
Despite this, EDF Energy, Scottish and Southern Energy and British Gas all announced cuts to their rates last week.
