More and more Britons are in great need of compensation from a payment protection insurance (PPI) claim, as a new study has revealed that consumer confidence is near rock bottom. Nationwide's Consumer Confidence Index recorded its second lowest ever reading in December 2011, as many UK residents continue to struggle financially. Chief economist at the building society Robert Gardner said that although the figures were disappointing, they were hardly surprising. He added that rates of unemployment grew to their highest level for 15 years in the third quarter of last year and the ongoing uncertainty throughout the eurozone is not helping matters either. "The cost of living continued to rise at more than twice the rate of underlying wage growth, putting further pressure on household budgets and bearing down on sentiment," he remarked. A recent study by Bright Grey showed that one in three British workers have no disposable income whatsoever and more people are struggling to cover their bills with their monthly wages.
